I recently went hiking in the forests of Hohenweiler, Gwiggen, which is located in the West of Austria, Vorarlberg. I enjoyed the view. The convent and church is seen a little bit on the right hand side of the picture:
The view is just breathtaking.
Even the moskitos that went after me couldn’t bother me too much that I left earlier, hehe. When I went there a simple anti moskito lotion worked perfectly so it was not an issue anymore the second time I went there.
I loved walking alone in the forests. I had my phone with me but no pepper spray or knife to defend myself and will change that for future walks.
Once I went near the forests again with one of the nuns of the convent nearby and she told me she doesn’t even go into the forests for safety reasons.
She’s not wrong.
Another nun told me that in Corona-times they build a fence between Austria and Gwiggen to prevent people entering the other country through the river without passing a checkpoint for safety reasons.
People building fences again in 2020.
I think the river is called “Laiblach”.
I went to the forests multiple times and I will go there again.
Do you like walking / hiking? Have you ever been to Austria or even Hohenweiler? Let me know in the comments 🙂👇
